Skärholmen

Within the City District Regeneration initiative the district of Skärholmen has so far several activities going on for physical renewal. Of special interest for the POSEIDON co-operation is the “Bredäng Centrum program for improvement”, which is a restoration project within City District Regeneration, with an innovative participation aspect to it, as well as the project “Vision 2015 for Kungens Kurva-Skärholmen”, which has as an objective to through the co-operation between two areas develop an attractive setting for commerce, employment, residents and visitors.

Another initiative of Skärholmen which will be involved in the POSEIDONco-operation is the Skärholmen City District Council organisation “Jobbcentrum”. This is a body established in 1998 to reduce the numbers of unemployed depending on social welfare benefits. It works from the premises of the social benefit takers own choices and solutions instead of fitting them into pre-made measures. The focus is on empowerment of the individuals to make their own choices to improve their life situation and pursue a suitable occupation. Jobbcentrum will participate in Poseidon both as a mentor and to further strengthen its own working methods.
